India Russia ink Nuclear Plant Pact



·       India and Russia signed an agreement for the two new reactors at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) under the guidance and supervision of the annual summit between Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and Russian President Mr.Vladimir Putin.

 ·  The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) was the end result of an inter-governmental agreement between the Soviet Union and India which was held in 1988.

· The fifth and the sixth unit of India’s largest nuclear power plant will be constructed in Tamil Nadu . The estimated cost incurred for this will be Rs 50,000 crores approximately.

· The Russian government have assured to fund half of the construction amount as a loan to Indian government.
