Cabinet clears 5% interest subvention for crop loans

Interest Subvention Scheme (ISS) has been approved by the government for farmers for the year 2017-18. Now the farmers can avail short term crop loan up to Rs. 3 lakh which is payable within one year at only 4% per annum. The Government has reserved sum of Rs. 20,339 crore for this purpose. Things to remember              NABARD and RBI will execute the Interest Subvention Scheme for one year. The main aim of this scheme is to offer short term loan at an affordable rate which will increase the agricultural productivity and production in the country. The revised interest rates will be provided to the Public Sector Banks (PSBs), Private Sector Banks, Cooperative Banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to use own funds and to NABARD for refinance to RRBs and Cooperative Banks. India Successfully fires heaviest launch vehicle

Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-Mark III (GSLV-Mk III) is the country’s heaviest rocket which is successfully launched by Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). GSAT-19, communications satellite was also launched along with GSLV-Mk III.  GSAT-19 communications satellite is the heaviest to be lifted by an Indian rocket till date – to an altitude of around 179km above the Earth. India Russia ink Nuclear Plant Pact

·        India and Russia signed an agreement for the two new reactors at the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) under the guidance and supervision of the annual summit between Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi and Russian President Mr.Vladimir Putin.   ·   The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) was the end result of an inter-governmental agreement between the Soviet Union and India which was held in 1988. ·   The fifth and the sixth unit of India’s largest nuclear power plant will be constructed in Tamil Nadu . The estimated cost incurred for this will be Rs  50,000 crores approximately. ·   The Russian government have assured to fund half of the construction amount as a loan to Indian government.
