New Bill to allow States to drop no-detention policy
The Ministry of Human Resource Development will be initiating a Bill to modify, the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009, empowered the states to drop the no-detention policy if they want to. The bill has been cleared by the cabinet. The Twenty-five States are ready to drop no-detention policy, according to which a child cannot be detained till Class 8. This step is only taken to uplift the standard of learning. So the Centre government has handed over the power to the State Government to decide and adjust the RTE Act according to them. The Bill will be surely allowing the States to introduce board examinations in Classes 5 and 8.
